Chapter 5: Family

Previous

“You are a goddess for making that fruit tart for me,” I tell Lafayette Sunday morning. I still haven’t told him about the baby but now’s as good a time as any. It’ll be good practice for an hour from now.

Eric’s mom, my dad and Jason are coming for brunch at eleven. I’ve been up since dawn thanks to my first bout of morning sickness. It didn’t last long so I can’t complain and I feel fine now.

“No probz,” he says, waving me off. “Why’s the gang comin’ over? You and Sexy Boy finally makin’ it official?”

“In a manner of speaking.” I grab my gardening shears from the junk drawer so I can trim the stems of the tulips I picked up at Trader Joe’s this morning. “I’m pregnant.”

“You’s what?” He arches an eyebrow at me.

“Pregnant. Knocked up. Expecting. Bun in the oven.” I dump a packet of flower food into the vase and start to add the tulips as I trim them.

“Well, shit. Congrats, Boo.” He turns to give me a hug. “How’s baby daddy takin’ it?”

“Alright, I suppose. We were both surprised at first, but he’s not running. I’ll have to show you the blurry as shit ultrasound picture later. I swear there’s nothing there, but my doctor insists there’s something.” Plus I think I need to go bra shopping tomorrow because sweet Jesus.

Lafayette puts his hand on my belly. “You’s gettin’ bigger. I was wonderin’ why you was eatin’ weird shit,” he laughs. “When you due?”

“November 22nd, but I’m betting it’ll be sooner. I’ll be considered full term at Halloween, so we’ll see.” I add water to the vase and then take it to the coffee table.

“You gon’ want me out by then?” he asks.

“I’m not kicking you out.”

“Aight, jus makin’ sure. I’m gon’ take off so you can tell Mama N and Pops without me hoverin’.”

“You don’t want to be here when Jason threatens to rip Eric’s lungs out through his ass?” I love my brother but he’s ridiculous.

“Nah, it’d be funny as fuck, but I’m gon’ let ya’ll handle his little ass.”

“Alright. I’ll try to get you video if I can,” I chuckle. Jason is my height but thanks to all the growth hormone he’s shot over the years he’s built like a little tank engine. And his voice is high enough to be a damn train whistle, which pretty much alleviates all doubt about whether or not he’s juicing.

“Please do,” he chuckles. “You need anythin’ else fo’ I go?”

“No, I think I’m okay. Eric will be here soon. He’s bringing the champagne and orange juice. Hopefully no one ends up with a bottle up their bum,” I snicker. That someone would be Eric.

“I’s sho’ he can fend off yo’ little asshole brother,” he snorts.

“Of course he can. It’s his mom I’m worried about,” I laugh.

“Tell his ass to pre-mix the mimosas.”

“Good idea. Thanks again for all your help. Give Jesus a big smooch for me.” Not only did Lafayette make the tart, he also made me brioche rolls and an apple danish coffee cake that Butterball has been trying to get me to eat all morning.

“Will do. Kiss the boy for me, slip him some tongue while you at it,” he winks.

“Ha! He’d like that. See you later.” I go back to the kitchen to finish slicing up fruit and check on the egg thing in the oven. The buzzer rings a few seconds later and I go to the control panel to see who’s here. It should be Eric but I won’t be surprised if it’s his mom. “Hello?”

“It’s me, Sweetcheeks, let me in,” Eric answers.

I push the entry button and let him upstairs. The door is unlocked so he can let himself in, assuming he’s not carrying a case of champagne. I go back to the kitchen and pull out plates. I’m getting out silverware when the door opens and closes.

“How’s my Butterball ball?” Eric asks when he walks into the room and sets the champagne and orange juice on the counter.

“He wants the apple danish coffee cake, and he finally made me sick this morning. Otherwise he’s fine,” I reply. The dress I have on is loose in the midsection but is great for my tits, if Eric’s staring is any indication.

“Sorry, how’s my baby mama doing?” He peels his eyes off of my tits and turns to eye the apple danish. “I think we should taste test that to make sure it’s good.”

“You can wait. Butterball got to taste test three lemon/blueberry muffins instead,” I chuckle.

“I’m going to have to spend mornings here if Lafayette keeps baking.” Eric walks up behind me and reaches around to rub my belly. “I’m going to pre-mix the mimosas,” he tells me.

“Good idea. And I’m sure if you flirt with Lafayette he’ll be happy to make you a batch of those Oreo brownies you get wood over.”

“Mmm, I’m sure I can do that. I normally only see him when I sneak in at night though. We won’t have our nightly chats anymore.”

“You’ll figure something out.” I jump when Eric pops the cork on the first bottle of champagne.

“Sorry. Want some OJ before I contaminate it with champagne?”

“Please.” I grab a large glass from the cabinet for him to fill.

While Eric’s dealing with all that, the buzzer goes off again. My dad will be late for his own funeral and since he refuses to drive in the city, I know he’s riding in with Jason, who is also chronically late. That means it’s most likely Eric’s mom.

“Cover your ears, Butterball,” I say and pat my belly.

“It’s Charlotte, honey,” his mom responds when I inquire who’s there.

“Come on up.” I buzz her in and then go to the front door to greet her. Charlotte is a taller than average woman and I can see similarities between her and Eric, but he’s not her spitting image.

“Good morning,” she smiles, “Long time, no see.”

“It’s been a while,” I agree and give her a hug. “How’ve you been? Can I take your coat?” She none too subtly checks my left hand for a ring.

She takes off her coat to hand to me. “I’ve been good. I see my son hasn’t pulled his head out of his ass yet and asked to make an honest woman of you.”

“Char, if I was any more honest your son would stop speaking to me,” I joke and take her coat to the closet.

“Sweetie, your bluntness is like foreplay to him,” she reminds me.

Sadly, that’s mostly true. Every now and then it causes some problems, but generally I think she’s probably right about Eric getting turned on by my inability to sugar coat things. My mom was the same way. She always spoke her mind, almost to the point of being offensive. Mom called it how she saw it and because of that, people who didn’t really want to hear the truth didn’t get along with her very well.

“Can I get you something to drink?” I offer once her coat is hung up.

“What do you have?” she asks.

“Mimosas,” Eric calls out. “I have a whole pitcher of them.”  When we get to the kitchen the champagne bottles are missing and he has flute full to the top for his mom.

“Thanks,” she says skeptically as she takes the glass. “So why the invite? Not that I don’t enjoy seeing my favorite kids.”

“It’s been a while since we’ve all been in the same room,” I say with a shrug. I’m sure she knows that’s bullshit – even if it is true – it’s not the only reason I invited her.

“Uh huh. Are you guys going to tell me what really going on or do I have to wait for your family, Sookie?”

“What do you mean? We just missed you guys,” Eric lies lamely.

“That’s bullshit, kiddo. I can wait,” she says, eyeing us both.

There’s a reason I’m wearing the dress I am. Just yesterday I realized that there’s a little bit of a bump starting to form. I haven’t even told Eric about it yet. I’ll show it to him later after everyone else is gone.

“Well, I’ve got some coffee cake and fresh fruit if you’re feeling peckish,” I offer.

“Sure,” Char smiles. “Coffee cake sounds delicious.”

“My roommate made it.” I almost slip and tell her that the baby’s wanted it all morning. Instead I got over to the kitchen to get the coffee cake from the cabinet where I hid it so I wouldn’t pick at it while I did my prep work. There are three stools hidden under the overhang on the island and I hear Charlotte pull one of them across the floor.

I set the coffee cake on the island as the buzzer rings.

“Holy shitcakes, they’re early,” I say after looking at the clock. They’re never early.

“I’ll cut this,” Eric says, grabbing a knife. “Go greet them.”

I take a deep breath and go over to the control panel. My dad is one of the most laidback, chilled out people on the planet. My brother, on the other hand… I don’t even have words for that screwball. Rather than asking who it is and having my Mickey Mouse brother’s voice scare the shit out of Charlotte, I just buzz them up.

“Hey, pumpkin,” Dad greets me when then walk up to the front door.

“Hi Daddio,” I reply and give him a hug. Jason’s following behind him, looking bulky as fuck and dressed in his usual track pants that are a size too small and a stupid muscle shirt with the sleeves cut off. He looks like such a douchebag.

“Sis,” he squeaks and I almost lose my shit.

He seriously sounds like he took a hit of helium.

“Hi, Jason.” I hug my brother after Dad moves past me into the apartment.

“You’re lookin’ a little thicker than usual,” Jason comments.

“Not all of us are aiming for a 0% BMI, big brother,” I reply.

“Smells good in here,” Dad comments as he takes his coat off.

“Thanks, Dad. I’ll take your coat.” I hold my hand out for it while Jason shuts the door. “I’m glad you guys could make it. I haven’t seen you since St. Paddy’s.”

Mom used to make corned beef and cabbage every year because everyone is Irish on March 17th, but I’ve taken up the routine for her since she passed. Jason rarely ever drinks since it’s bad for his physique, apparently, but he makes a few exceptions a year. St. Patrick’s Day is one of them, so we had dinner together the night before. I hang Dad’s coat up and already I see Jason giving Eric the stink eye.

“You didn’t tell me Eric would be here,” Dad smiles. “And he has a sister. All these years I thought you said he was an only child.” I don’t think I’m comfortable with the way he’s looking at Charlotte.

“Hey, Corbett, long time, no see,” Eric says, greeting my dad. “This is my mom, Charlotte, Ma, this is Sookie’s dad Corbett Stackhouse.”

“Nice to finally meet you, Corbett,” Char smiles.

“Likewise,” Dad nods.

“So why did you invite us all here?” Charlotte asks. I see where Eric gets his patience from.

We might as well get this out of the way. I go into the spare bedroom and grab a little box that came on Friday from Etsy. I take out three of the little boxes inside of the bigger shipping box and carry them to the kitchen. Dad, Jase and Charlotte all get one. Inside is a little card with a kidney bean attached, informing them that our baby is eight weeks old and the size of the bean. We’ll see how this goes over…

“Presents? Sweet!” Jason says and flips the lid on his box, as do Char and Dad.

They both stare at the little bean for a few seconds before Char looks between Eric and me.

“You didn’t tell me you two were dating again,” Dad says without taking his eyes off of the card. He looks up at Eric and says, “You two are dating, aren’t you?”

“Uhhh…” Eric looks at me to answer.

“Oh, fuck beans,” Charlotte sighs. I can see her looking around for something to throw at Eric.

“Here.” I hand her a spatula. He kinda deserves it sometimes. “And to answer your question, Dad, no, we’re not dating. The baby wasn’t planned but we’re happy about it and we’re committed to raising it together. So you’re going to be a grandpa and you’re going to be happy or Mom will haunt you.”

Charlotte smacks Eric on the arm with the spatula, followed by a smack on my butt. “I know he didn’t do this alone,” she says when I yelp.

“I don’t know what I am yet,” Dad sighs and set his bean on the counter. Eric hands him a mimosa and takes a step back.

“Dad, come on… we’re both adults. We’re settled in our careers and if I had to I could do this alone. We’re… well, financially and all that we’re prepared. We’re still working things out but I think this is a good thing. Come on… just imagine a chubby little baby all curled up and snoozing on you.” I’m not above playing on his emotions.

Jason is being oddly quiet, so either he’s not paying attention or he’s already plotting how to dispose of Eric’s body. I’m guessing as chum in the lake.

“Do you want the wedding before or after the baby is born?” Char asks, making Eric roll his eyes.

“Didn’t she just say we’re working things out? We’re not going to jump from friends to spouses overnight, Ma. We broke up for a reason, and we need to work through those reasons. If we don’t, we’re still going to raise this little Butterball together. We’re going to do what’s best for our baby, not your ideals.”

To my surprise, that doesn’t get Eric another swat with the spatula. I’m not sure what to think of their reaction. I’m fully aware that this isn’t the ideal situation and I’m sure it’s not the way Char or Dad saw us making an announcement like this, but it’s here. What’s the most important thing, really? I know it’s a shock but I’m not a teenager and their lack of support… I’m not happy.

“Excuse me,” I say when my eyes well up. I don’t know if it’s my disappointment at the way they’re acting or if it’s the baby, but either way I’m bawling my eyes out by the time I get to the bathroom.

EPOV

“See what you did?” I sigh. I know it’s not necessarily their fault, but Sookie hasn’t broken down in tears in front of me, so I’m blaming them. They could’ve at least gave us a fuckin’ congratulations or some shit. “Why don’t you two let this marinate a minute while I go check on Sookie.”

I don’t wait for a response before I head out of the room to follow Sookie. At this moment, I don’t care what they think. My baby mama is sobbing alone in the bathroom and she’s where my priorities lie. When I walk into the bathroom Sookie is sitting on the toilet with her head in her hands. I kneel down in front of her and wrap my arms around her shoulders.

“Sorry,” I whisper. I don’t know what else to say.

“Why aren’t they happy?” she sniffles between sobs.

“I don’t know, babe. I don’t think they’re unhappy, I think they’re just surprised,” I tell her as I rub her back. “I’m happy.” I know that isn’t enough, but I hope it helps. I don’t think I’ve told her I’m happy about the baby yet.

It does nothing to stop her from crying. A timer goes off in the kitchen, though. I have no idea what it is, but I assume Mom or Corbett have enough common sense to check on whatever it is.

“Should I tell them to leave?” I whisper and kiss her temple.

“No,” she answers. Sookie takes a deep breath and sniffles again. “I want them to get their fucking heads out of their asses and be fucking happy for us like supportive fucking parents,” she says louder than she needs to.

“Should I go knock their heads together for you?” I offer, wiping a few of her tears with my thumbs.

“Use the spatula.”

“I can do that. Are you going to be okay in here while I go whoop them?”

“Uh huh. I have to fix my face,” she says.

I give her a quick peck without thinking before I stand up. “I’ll try to have them in line before you come out.”

I leave Sookie in the bathroom and go back to the kitchen where Mom and Corbett are talking. Jason is… doing pushups on the living room floor… Okay…

“She’s pretty upset, guys,” I tell them. “We’re adults; we expected a little more support from you.”

“It’s a bit of a shock, Eric,” Corbett tells me. “I know you two are close, but I didn’t think… I guess I’m glad it’s with you, and not someone else,” he sighs.

“Sweetheart, of course I’m happy for you. Babies are wonderful and you know I adore Sookie, but you can’t tell me that you weren’t surprised by this news yourself,” Mom points out.

“I was shocked, but I didn’t look at her like she has two heads,” I reply. The look of disappointment on their faces is most likely what sent Sookie into the bathroom. “We just want you guys to be happy for us. We’re going to need all the help we can get since we’re both ridiculously under qualified to be parents. I’ve started reading the book on being a dad Sookie got me, but having some real advice might be better for us. We may not have our shit together as a couple but we’re sure as hell not going to let that show when it comes to our little Butterball.”

“When’s she due?” Corbett asks after looking down at the bean card again. That was a really cute idea.

“November 22nd,” I answer.

“As long as you don’t skip out on her, I accept this,” he sighs.

“He won’t. I’ll disown him if he does,” Mom says, giving me the same look she used to give me in junior high when she gave me the talk about drugs.

“I’m a hundred percent devoted to those two, Corbett,” I assure him. “I’m crazy in love with that baby and Sookie she’s… I haven’t been able to walk away from her before, there’s no way she’s getting rid of me now.”

“We’ll see,” he sighs again as Sookie walks out. Her face is red and puffy but she’s been able to stop the tears.

Jason jumps up off the floor and it scares the shit out of Sookie.

“Jesus fucking Christ up the ass, Jason!” She clutches her chest. “What the hell were you doing on the floor?”

“I’m doing me. Gotta stay fluid, Sook,” he answers.

What the fuck is wrong with him?

“Who want to eat?” Mom pulled the food out of the oven when the timer went off.

“Sook, I’m sorry I reacted so poorly,” Corbett apologizes. “I’m not upset; it just came as a shock.”

“Yeah, well, it surprised me too and I didn’t freak out or cry about it,” Sookie says. “I’m not a kid anymore. I’d think both of you would be happy that Eric and I are smart enough not to get married for the sake of a child. Maybe this isn’t happening the way you thought it should but I bet you didn’t think you’d lie to Gran and Grandpa about Mom’s due date so they wouldn’t know she was pregnant with Mickey Mouse, just like I’m sure Char didn’t think Eric’s dad would take off like an asshole. Shit happens.”

“Yes it does, and I apologized, Sookie,” Corbett tells her. “I didn’t intend to upset you. I didn’t know what to think, it took a moment to sink in.”

Sookie gets out a pan of cinnamon rolls and opens the refrigerator to retrieve some cream cheese and cold cuts. She’s not talking. That’s never a good sign.

I take it upon myself to pour another mimosa for Mom and one for myself. I don’t want Sookie to be upset, but there’s nothing I can do to fix their relationship and I’m not going to butt in. I cut a small piece of the coffee cake and push it toward Sookie. I don’t know if she wants it anymore, but it may help some of the awkward go away. No. It doesn’t.

“So, Ma, any advice for expectant mothers?” I ask, not really sure what to say.

“Well, it’s hard to say since every pregnancy is different. I know with you I was practically a zombie for the last nine weeks or so. I couldn’t remember anything and I wasn’t getting much sleep. One night I made myself some mashed potatoes for supper and your grandmother called. I went to answer the phone and when I got back to the kitchen the pan was gone. I thought maybe I ate it or maybe I was going crazy and never made them. I found the pot in the Tupperware cabinet the next day, with the potatoes still in it,” she laughs.

I laugh at that. I don’t know if Sookie has gotten forgetful, but I’m sure she’s not looking forward to it. She’s a control freak and that would fuck with her head.

“Michelle, Sookie’s mother, was forgetful too,” Corbett adds. “She would go to the store for groceries and forget why she left the house before she even got to the end of the street.”

“Was that while she was pregnant or when she had all the brain tumors?” Sookie glares at her father. Uh oh.

“While she was pregnant,” Corbett says sadly. “I’m going to go. I see I’m not welcome. It was nice to finally meet you Charlotte.”

“But Dad, we didn’t eat yet,” Jason says.

“Then I’ll wait in the car for you.” I can hear the emotion bubbling up in Corbett’s voice.

Sookie doesn’t try to stop him. I’m sure this isn’t how she saw all this playing out.

“Corbett, don’t leave. This is supposed to be a celebration and Sookie obviously worked very hard to put together a nice little party,” Mom tries.

“It’s a lovely party, but my daughter doesn’t want to accept my apology, or want me here,” he says.

“Yep, that’s why I invited him. So he could sit in Jason’s sweat sock of a penismobile,” Sookie says.

“The truck doesn’t smell like a sweat sock,” Jason argues as Sookie sets down a basket of rolls. There’s way more food than necessary for five people.

“I don’t want to leave, but making comments about your mother’s illness aren’t necessary,” Corbett tells her. “I’m sad enough not being able to share this with her. It came as a shock, Sookie. If I knew how I was going to respond to you telling me you’re pregnant I would have hidden my shock better. I’m happy for you, Sookie. I’m happy you’re happy. Now can you stop looking at me like I’m a piece of gum on your shoe and accept that I’m sorry for the way I reacted?”

“Do you think I’m not sad Mom isn’t here? I can’t call her up and ask if something is normal. I can’t ask her advice for how to deal with a teething baby or if I’ll ever stop feeling like my emotions will keep holding me hostage. She isn’t here to help me pick out a theme for the nursery or to go to a doctor’s appointment with me or to tell me what to expect during labor. I know she’s not here because I think about it every day the same as you,” Sookie says and she’s back to sobbing by the time she’s done. Butterball is on a roll.

Corbett moves to where Sookie is standing and wraps his arms around her.

“I’m sorry, pumpkin,” he whispers. “I’m so, so sorry.” Corbett is clearly at a loss. I wonder if I’m going to feel the kind of hurt he’s feeling when Butterball cries or gets upset over anything. I have to believe I will, but it’s hard to imagine. Corbett looks like he’s ready to breakdown with her.

“It’s not fair,” Sookie says.

Her breakdown isn’t stopping Jason from eating. Mom reaches for a paper towel to dab at her eyes.

“Honey, I know I’m not your mom, but you can call me, you know,” Mom tells her.

I settle my hand on Mom’s back, not sure what to say. I’ve seen Sookie break down like this before and all I can do is hold her. Corbett has that covered.

Mom gets up and grabs herself a plate. This might be a while.

***

It took a little while for Sookie to calm down, which was expected. Corbett and Jason stuck around for a couple hours, as did Mom. Sookie is going to take Mom up on her offer to call anytime she has a question. Things didn’t go as planned, but all in all, it worked out okay.

I wash the dishes while Sookie lies on the couch to watch TV. Sookie is good at cleaning while she cooks so there isn’t much to wash. When I’m done I dry my hands and start the dishwasher. I walk over and don’t ask if I can crawl onto the couch with Sookie. I just do it. I lie in front of her so my head is nuzzled into her tits with my arm around her waist.

“That went… different,” I say quietly with my eyes closed.

“No kidding. You know my mom would have been bouncing off the walls,” she says. “She wouldn’t have cared that we aren’t a couple.”

“She loved me, so that’s to be expected,” I tease. “I bet she’s bouncing around heaven telling Jesus what a great mom you’re going to be.”

“I hope so. Thanks for… For not bailing. Not just today, but in general. I know how you feel about what your dad did, but there are plenty of people who don’t keep their word. You do. That means a lot to me, knowing I can count on you,” Sookie tells me. She tilts my head up to kiss me.

The kiss stays soft. I don’t pull away and neither does she. I don’t expect anything to happen, I just like kissing her. My knuckles brush over her lower abdomen slowly.

“I love Butterball, I’m not going anywhere,” I promise in a whisper, my lips brushing against hers.

“I have a bump now,” she whispers back.

“May I?” I ask as I reach down and start to slip my hand under her dress so I can feel her bare belly.

“Yeah, sure.”

I keep it as respectable as possible when I reach up her skirt to rub her belly. It’s crazy to think this is part of me growing inside of her. I look down between us as I lift her dress so I can see where my baby is being housed.

“That’s insane,” I say as I rub her smooth skin.

“I know. He’s only the size of that tiny bean but you wouldn’t know it from that bump,” she says.

“My baby needs room to stretch his little nubs,” I chuckle. I shift down the couch so my head is level with her bump. I kiss her belly just above her panty line. “Sorry I impregnated you with a giant.”

“I’m happy it’s just one.” Sookie runs her fingers through my hair as she talks. “Stay tonight.”

“Okay,” I agree without hesitation. I kiss her belly again just below her belly button. “Alcide told me Janice was convinced she was having triplets and they were hiding,” I chuckle. My hand settles on her waist as my thumb rubs her hip bone.

“Janice needs to lay off the crazy pills.”

“I think she was dropped one too many times. Or his mom took too many drugs while she was pregnant with her.”

“Having met her, I think she might be the one the Rolling Stones wrote that mother’s helper song about,” she snorts.

I smile and kiss her stomach again. I’m close. I can’t help myself.

“Think Butterball will know me when he’s born?” I ask.

“If you keep talking to him he will.”

“That’s my plan. I just hope I don’t piss you off so you take him hostage,” I snort. It’s likely that I’m going to piss her off eventually. I run my fingertips around her tiny bump, making her stomach twitch when it tickles.

“You piss me off and you’re taking him the whole time he’s teething,” she warns.

“You wouldn’t allow that,” I remind her. “You’re going to be so smitten with our little Butterball you won’t want him to leave your sight.”

“Or I’ll have postpartum depression and never get attached to the kid,” she sighs.

I know it’s a possibility, but I don’t see it happening. “I don’t think that’ll be the case at all.” I kiss her belly again. “I think you’re going to hoard him and I’m barely going to get to see him.”

“I might be a terrible mom.”

“I might be a terrible father, but that’s not going to stop me from trying,” I tell her.

“I’m not saying I’m not going to try to be a good mom. I’m just worried I’ll suck at it. What if Butterball hates me?”

I snort and say, “Babe, no one can hate you. You’re a great girl, Sookie. Butterball is going to love the shit out of you. If Butterball hates anyone it’s going to be me.”

“Ha! You get to be the fun one. I have to make him take his baths, get his shots and eventually eat his veggies,” she points out.

“You want me to play bad cop?” I offer, rubbing my hand up and down her side. I can’t help touching her when we’re so close.

“Sometimes I do. Why should I always have to be the bad guy?”

“We can be a team,” I tell her. “We can take turns and when it comes to veggies and bath time and shots we can be a united front.”

“I’m going to hold you to this.”

“I know.” I rest my head on my arm and nuzzle against her belly, giving her soft kisses.

Sookie makes a little noise that’s damn close to being one of her sex noises, and she’s not stopping me from kissing or touching her. To test her “boundaries” I move my kisses a little lower, pushing her panties down just a little. I rub slow circles around her hip, inching back toward her ass. Her ass is damn near as perfect as her tits, even with the little bit of weight she’s gained.

Her fingers keep running through my hair and when I look up, her eyes are closed. Sookie looks… relaxed, comfortable even.

I keep my eyes on her face as I slowly move my kisses lower. I flick my tongue out to lick the top of her slit through her panties. I begin to gently knead her ass as I flick my tongue out every few seconds. I don’t want her to stop me. I’m not even worried about sex. I just want to make her feel good.

Sookie moans and her leg shifts so it’s resting over my shoulder, giving me the access I need and she obviously wants me to have. Her eyes stay closed but her free hand has found its way into the top of her dress. I move my hand down between her thighs so I can push her panties to the side. I don’t say anything, I don’t want to break the spell, and if I’m being honest, she can use the release.

I rub my thumb around her opening, groaning at how wet she is. My head tilts down and I lick her clit, making her hips jerk. I continue to lick and rub slowly for a minute before I wrap my lips around the sweet little nub and begin to suckle.

“Oh god,” she gasps and grips my hair to hold me in place. “Oh fuck, don’t stop…”

I shift my hand and slip my middle finger into her pussy, slowly pumping in and out. I don’t stop suckling, as requested. When she feels wet enough I add a second finger and curl them so I can rub her sweet spot.

“Yes!” Sookie cries out. She tugs her dress down, revealing her extremely hard nipples as her silky walls pulse around my fingers. She’s breathing hard and her moans keep getting louder.

I love watching Sookie cum. She makes the sexiest faces and the noises that come from her make my cock fuckin ‘ solid. I release her clit, quickly replacing my mouth with my thumb. I move up her body so my mouth is level with her chest. I lick her left nipple before I suckle it, mimicking when I did to her clit. My fingers move quickly, trying to coax an orgasm from her.

“Eric… Oh fuuuuck… Yesyesyes,” Sookie moans moments later when the orgasm hits. Her walls grip my fingers in strong pulses while her juices rush out of her. “Ohmygod, Eric…”

“Mmm,” I moan around her nipple. I release the stiff peak and tilt my head to capture her lips. “You’re so beautiful, baby,” I whisper against her lips. “Does that feel better?” I slowly work my fingers out of her pussy, rubbing her clit for a moment before I rest my hand on her hip.

She nods and says, “Take your pants off, Eric.”

Who am I to argue? I have to stand up to drop my pants. My cock is solid as a damn rock, pointing straight at her.

“Where do you want me?” I ask, pulling my shirt over my head.

“Here.” She reaches down between her thighs. “I don’t want to have a discussion about it and Lafayette is staying at Jesus’ place.”

When it comes to sex my only discussion is what fuckin’ position. I bend to pull her panties off. I push her thighs back and kneel between her legs. I rub my head through her wet folds a few times before I start to slide into her warm, wet core.

“Oh, holy fuck,” I groan as her pussy engulfs me. Jesus, she feels fuckin’ amazing. Pregnant pussy is so much better than not pregnant pussy. Wow.

Sookie manages to wiggle her dress up over her head and her bra quickly joins her dress on the floor somewhere. She pulls her knees up toward her and it lets me get deeper. She moans and holds her legs for me while I begin to pull back. I push forward again, filling her completely. My hands find hers and I lift them above her head, pinning both wrists in one hand. I look down to watch my cock stretch her as I begin to thrust.

“Good fuckin’ lord this feels good,” I groan. My hips speed up some, swiveling on each down stroke. I want to feel her cum on my cock. It’s been a couple weeks since I had sex last and I doubt I’m going to last too long.

“Yes… Yes… Ohmygod!” Sookie cries out. Her walls are fluttering again already. “Oh god, harder, Eric…”

Yes, ma’am.

I start to drive in harder, slapping my hips against her inner thighs. I reach down with my free hand and begin to rub her clit.

“Cum for me, baby,” I growl. My eyes are on her gorgeous face contorting in ecstasy. “Take me with you.” I can already feel my cock swelling.

“Yesyesyesyesyes!” She shouts as her pussy grips my shaft hard. Her back arches and I feel the little bump that is our baby rub against me.

That gives me a whole different feeling of satisfaction. Sookie, my Sookie is carrying my baby. My eyes travel down her sexy body, ending on the spot where we’re joined. It’s not the time to become some possessive dick, but I want to claim her so fuckin’ bad. I want to tell her she’s mine. Mine forever. I don’t. I let the feeling of her pussy coaxing my orgasm take over and I cum with a roar, filling her with my release.

“Fuuuuck!” I shout as my hips jerk against her.

Sookie moans and her hips swivel a bit while an aftershock ripples through her. She frees her hands and draws my face to hers for a soft, sweet kiss.

“Thank you,” she whispers.

“For what?” I should be thanking her.

“Everything. Today. Right now.”

“You’re welcome,” I whisper back. I give her another sweet kiss. I pull out and lie down next to her, curling her into my arms, against my chest.

“I might fall asleep,” she warns and promptly yawns.

“I’ll be here,” I promise. “Butterball and I will hang out until you’re ready to join us again.”

“Mmkay.”

I kiss her forehead and squeeze her a little tighter. It feels like it did when we were together. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. It feels good though. I’ve missed this. I do sneak attacks at night but this feels different. Again, I’m relaxing with my family. Sookie may not look at it that way, but that’s exactly what it is. We’re going to figure us out one day. I’m sure of it.

  1. I really liked this chapter on so many levels. I would have cried like Sookie after the parents lack of reaction. I like how supportive Eric was. I can also relate to Sookie because my mom had passed before my son was born and Sookie’s thoughts and reaction mirrored mine. The chapter close was perfect.

  2. Last chapter she set boundaries and thinks to herself how she sticks to what she says and Eric doesn’t and she looks the bitch, but she didn’t stick to what she said this time. Eric did shitty by having Nora over that night, but Sookie did shitty with this. Hopefully she doesn’t decide to be a bitch to Eric tomorrow.
Sex was great as always and loved the support Eric gave in all ways

  3. Just love that eric grew up with and appreciation for uppity women. Let’s face it. He’s already there and would marry her in a heartbeat and she’s already being held hostage by the hormone fairy. Funny description of Jason. Tool ( floppy tool). Great couple once they figure it out

  4. It looks to me that most of what Sookie takes for Eric’s commitment issues has more to do with his inability to move on from her and getting invested in being with someone else than not wanting a serious relationship. I’m not saying that his without fault where their problems are concerned, but I think Sookie doesn’t realise she’s guilty of many things she accuses him of.

  5. Wow Sookie’s hormones are pinging the extremes. Glad that Eric is staying calm and rational, hopefully he will learn to communicate his feelings and Sookie will be able to do the same. Excellently written scene, ladies, the pair telling their family of the pregnancy.

  6. That went… okay? Well the family knows and the usual threats. The comments about Jason were too funny and the images you get when you picture him is funny as hell😂.
Eric wants to be there with and for Sookie, I hope she’ll let him even when she’s annoyed with him😬
