Chapter 3

To say I was surprised to see Eric at the school would be an understatement. I’d also be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to see him away from The Playground. I’ve always been curious about his personal life but never called him other than to meet. We exchanged numbers about a month into playing, but I felt as though it would be uncouth to call him, given the way we met. We have a lot of fun and it’s a nice release, but if I’m being honest, part of me was scared to find out he’s a complete jerk in his real life. He’s not, which is why I tried stammering my way through asking him on a date. Thank the heavens he saved me from sounding like a complete idiot when he asked me to dinner.

I have my hair up in a classy bun, with a form fitting burgundy dress. It’s nice and sexy, but not Playground sexy, at least not to me. It’s a good date dress. Although, I can’t wear a bra with it… my tits are perky enough to let the girls roam free. I have a pair of strappy silver shoes with a matching clutch and jewelry. When I walk up to the restaurant Eric asked me to meet him at he’s already standing there looking like sex on two legs in a cobalt blue button down shirt and dark gray pants. He’s an absolutely stunning man.

“Hi,” I smile as I approach. This is surreal being on a date with him.

“Hello.” His smile is radiant and he offers me an apple instead of flowers.

“Aww, thank you,” I laugh as I take the apple from him. It’s a very original gesture. I don’t know if I should kiss him hello or if we keep this at normal first date rules. I really want to kiss him.

“You’re welcome. Hungry?” He opens the door for me like a gentleman.

“Starving. I haven’t eaten since breakfast and even then all I had was an apple and half of a plain bagel.” I step into the restaurant. The smell of steak makes my mouth water.

“Ever been here before? They make mozzarella sticks the size of Twinkies.”

“Once for a Christmas get together with co-workers. I didn’t get to see the mozzarella sticks though. Those sound exciting. I mean, who doesn’t love giant logs of fried cheese?” I grin. I notice immediately that date Eric is very… tame compared to Playground Eric. His demeanor is completely different, but not in a bad way.

“No one I want to be around,” he replies. “We had a contest here once with those things,” he chuckles. “The winner got down nineteen of them.”

“Was it you? I’d imagine you’re still backed up if so,” I snort. Ugh. Inappropriate conversation Sookie is making an appearance.

“No, I bowed out at seven.”

“Good boy,” I chuckle. “Did you already put our name in?”

“I did. We can wait in the bar if you want,” he offers.

“Sure.” Eric rests his hand on the small of my back to lead me to the bar. We find seats toward the end, where Eric helps me onto my stool before he takes a seat next to me. His hand politely rests on my back, sending a small shiver up the length of my spine. I know what he can do with those hands… mmm.

When the bartender comes by he waits for me to order my Caramel Apple Martini before requesting two fingers of Scotch on the rocks.

“It’s interesting getting to know you outside of what we do… you know, there,” I comment.

“I agree. You look beautiful, by the way. Red looks good on you.”

“Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind,” I wink. I really want to lean over to kiss him. “You look very handsome as well. The blue makes your eyes pop.”

“Thanks. It’s actually Pam’s doing, believe it or not. She knows me outside the club, obviously. We went to college together,” he tells me. “I’m kinda hopeless when it comes to fashion stuff. I think fancy is getting all the soot off me.”

“As I mentioned, your fireman smell and look is very sexy,” I tell him. For some reason I’m not surprised he knows Pam outside of the club. I’ve seen them interact and it’s familiar, not in a lover’s way, but a friendly way. “I’ll have to thank Pam for this look, though.”

“I suggest jewelry of some kind or she’ll try to go down on you,” he winks.

“I told her we’ll see with option B,” I chuckle. “I do have a nice vintage ring that I never wear though.”

“She’d probably prefer option B. I know I would.”

“Hmm, you know I’ve never been with a woman?” I tell him. I think he knows, but I want to be sure. “As for you, the way you made my ovaries tingle when I saw you tonight makes me want to take you home after dinner.”

“Oh yeah? I might be convinced to go home with you.” He sips his drink just as his name is called.

I pick up my drink before I stand up. Once again, Eric leads me through the restaurant with his hand settled at the small of my back. The hostess leads us to a small booth toward the back. Eric waits for me to slide in before he sits next to me, resting his hand on my thigh. His hand is warm, sending tingles through my leg. There’s something about Eric that I can’t put my finger on. He makes me feel… safe is the best word I can come up with.

“It smells so good in here,” I say once the hostess walks away. “I’m scared I’m going to embarrass myself by eating too much.”

“I work with a guy who ate nineteen mozzarella sticks,” he reminds me.

“True,” I chuckle, setting my hand on his. “I don’t even know where to start…” I lean over to give him a sweet peck on his lips. “I’ve wanted to do that since I saw you earlier.”

“You could have,” he smiles back at me.

“I wasn’t sure. I know for future dates, if you want to go on another one.” I give him one more kiss before I turn back to the menu. “I honestly think I just want a huge steak and broccoli.” The other night with Eric took a lot out of me and I haven’t really replenished yet.

“I’m getting the apple cider stuffed pork chops. If you haven’t had it, you don’t know what you’re missing.”

“I haven’t. Can I sweet talk you out of a bite?”

“Maybe,” he smiles.

“I can be persuasive if I need to be.” I lift his hand off of my thigh to kiss his palm before resting it back on my leg.

“I know you can.”

“So, what do you do when you’re not working?” I ask, trying to get to know him better.

“My lieutenant’s family owns a construction company, so I work for them in the summer months when they’re busy. Turns out I’m pretty much the best framer they’ve ever had and I build a mean deck,” he tells me.

“Good to know,” I smile. “I may need you to come over and check out my deck.” The boards are old and it’s going to need to be rebuilt soon.

“I could do that,” Eric agrees. “We work a rotation where we’re on a month and then off a month to keep from burning out, so I have my share of free time.”

“Good. I still have things to do during the summer when the kids are out of school, but it’s nice to have the free time. I like to have lazy days where I read a smutty book while I lay out working on my tan.”

His eyebrow lifts. “Smutty books, huh?”

“Yep,” I chuckle. “I didn’t do anything like we do at The Playground until I started going.”

“Can I ask how you even found out about the place? Most people don’t know it exists.”

“I met Pam at a sex shop of all places. My vibrator was on the fritz and I needed a new one. She bumped into me in the lingerie section,” I explain.

“I want you to know that you are the first girl to talk about her vibrator with me on a first date,” he teases.

“Seeing as you’ve used one on me, I figured it’s okay,” I chuckle. “Oh, and outside of play, please call me Sookie. Susannah is what my mother called me when I got in trouble. It just sounds sexy when you say it.”

“Good to know,” he smiles. “I like that. Sookie isn’t a name you hear all the time.”

“Nope. I’m the only one I know. I also use Susannah for the anonymity thing,” I tell him.

“Understandable. Have you ever run into anyone from outside?” He takes another drink as our waiter comes to the table.

We put in our order. I order a twelve ounce steak, but I don’t think I’ll eat it all. Eric gets his pork chops, making the waiter smile. He lets us know it’s his favorite. I will definitely be getting a bite of that.

“You’re the first,” I answer. “And I’m glad I did.”

“Me too.” Eric holds up his glass.

I clink my martini with his scotch. I’ve barely touched it since the conversation has been flowing so smoothly.

“Can I ask, is this date going to change how things happen at the club?” I enjoy what we do together, as well as with other people. I don’t sleep with a lot of men, but there are a couple others. Eric is the only one I’ve ever had unprotected sex with. I also know he sleeps with other girls. Walking in on him with Amanda is proof of that, not to mention the few times we’ve had threeways and the couple times I saw him go into a room with another girl.

“I don’t know. Do you want it to?” he asks.

“I guess it depends on if you want to do the couple thing or if you just want to go on dates every now and then. I love what we do together, I also know you’re with other girls and when you are I can usually find someone else…” I trail off, not really sure what else to say. This conversation needs to happen though.

“If I’m being completely honest, I think an open relationship is the way I want to go at this point. I’d like to get married and have kids but I also understand that monogamy isn’t the easiest way to go. I think the important thing is communication and as long as you have that, sex is just sex, you know what I mean?”

“I do,” I nod. “So maybe… outside of the club we do the couple thing and keep it open at the club? I want the kids and marriage one day too. I’m the kind of girl that if your heart is with me and you don’t hide what you’re doing from me, I’m fine with it. Honesty and communication are extremely important. I mean, what if you want something I don’t want to do? I’d still want you to be happy sexually, if that makes sense.”

“Totally makes sense. In the spirit of being open and honest…” Eric leans over and gives me a deeper kiss than before.

My hand comes up to play with the back of his hair while we kiss. It’s sweet and full of something different than we normally have. I like it. He feels good and not just in a sexual way.

“What was that?” I whisper when he pulls back to nip my bottom lip.

“I wanted to kiss you, so I did,” he smiles. “I plan on doing it again later.”

“I’m perfectly fine with that,” I smile back.

“You have a beautiful smile.”

“Thank you,” I reply with a little blush.

He’s a really sweet man. I didn’t know what to expect from this date, but I love what I’m learning. He’s definitely the kind of guy I can see a future with. Hell, he may even be the father of my children one day. He’s definitely good with kids if what I saw at the school is any indication. Bottom line, we both have our kinks in the bedroom, but it seems in the real world we have the same goals. That’s not something you find every day so I plan on sticking with Eric as long as he’ll have me.

  1. The date is going well. I could never do an open relationship. But if they are both okay with it, I guess it works for them. I would think that sex would get personal when their are feeling involved , I think it then becomes more than sex. I wonder if that will happen .

  2. It’s great they’re getting along well. The open relationship thing can only work for so long until one of them are ready for more and the other isn’t. That’s when shit gets real.

    • sookie has to take full and be in full control as a teacher and her personal life where as eric tries to keep fires and his world in control the best he can in his circumstances as a firefighter and his father’s death
as a dominant he has full control of every situation and as a submissive sookie can be dependent of the situations
      opposites always attract

  3. If I didn’t know this was a story I’d have to tell Sookie to stop dreaming the hubby, kids, dogs and white picket’s too soon! Nice interlude.
