Chapter 16

Previous

There isn’t too much to see in the town Eric lives in, but this could end up being my home, so I want to give it a chance. I go into some of the little shops and look around. My favorite place is a secondhand store where I find a super cute vintage summer dress. I also find a pair of sunglasses that have enormous brown lenses.

At another little shop I find a picture frame that would look nice in Eric’s apartment, so I buy that too. That way pictures of his kids aren’t limited to the kitchen.

I keep a close eye on the time so I’m sure I’m back at Eric’s apartment by five. Seeing the picture on his fridge of all of the kids made it real that he’s a father of six. I’m nervous about meeting them. If they hate me that’s going to be a serious problem. I’m also worried about what his ex is going to think of me.

She would have every right to hate me too. Her marriage may have been unhappy before Eric meet me, but I’m still what ultimately took him away from her and their children. Until now I’ve never really thought about the role I might play in the dissolution of a marriage. Eric isn’t the only married client I had.

Who knows how many other wives found out their husbands were being unfaithful. How many other marriages did I have a hand in ruining?

When I get back to Eric’s apartment I’m not as cheerful as I was when I left. Eric buzzes me upstairs and greets me at the door with a smile. I smile back, but it’s not my usual smile.

“Hey,” I say. “Get caught up on your work?”

“Good, done for now. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing really. Just thinking about some stuff.” I want to just brush it off, but I know Eric isn’t likely to let it go.

“Sookie, I know you’re lying. What happened while you were out?” he pries.

“I was just thinking about how many other wives may have thrown their husbands out because of me,” I say as I step inside. “How many other kids have only weekend dads now because of me?”

“You can’t blame yourself,” he starts, “Any of those men, and myself, if their marriages dissolved it truly had nothing to do with you. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I know what happened was bound to happen regardless.”

“I know you’re right on some level, but aren’t I at least a little responsible for this? I never really thought about my role until I saw the picture of your kids. What if they hate me? What if your ex doesn’t want me near them?”

“I promise they won’t hate you. They’ll adore you,” he hugs me to his chest. “Don’t worry about Aude. They’re my kids and if I trust you to be around them, she won’t argue.”

I take a deep breath. I hope he’s right, or this isn’t going to last. His kids are too important to him, and he should choose them over me.

“I hope you’re right,” I say.

“I am.”

I tilt my head up to kiss him.

“Thank you.” I hug him tightly.

“You’re welcome. So what did you buy?” he asks and leads me to the living room.

“I found a really cute dress and a pair of sunglasses at a secondhand store. And I got something for you, too.” I hand him the bag with the frame in it.

He opens it and gives me a gorgeous, genuine smile. “Thank you so much, Sookie.”

“You’re welcome. You can put a picture of Alyssa in there. She’ll love it,” I laugh.

“Or I can put a picture of you,” he says softly and takes my hand. “I have a feeling I’m not going to see you as much as I’d like to, so I’ll need a reminder.”

“How about one of us together? Then I can put the same one in my house,” I suggest.

“Hmm, I was thinking a poster size of my magic cock for your living room. I guess a little one of us together will have to do,” he shrugs.

“If you gave me a poster of your cock it would go on my bedroom ceiling above my bed.”

“That’s a good place too. I can just imagine you playing with yourself while you stare at it…” he drifts off a little. “I need to stop now.”

“Yes, you do. My hips are still sore from that quickie. I’m pretty sure I have bruises from that.” I haven’t looked, but it hurt like hell when he slammed me against the counter.

“Sorry, got a little carried away there.”

“I noticed,” I smile. “I’ll be fine.”

“Sex bruises are rarely bad, right?” he questions.

“That’s what I hear.”

“I need to get ready to go. Are you sure you’ll be okay?”

“I’ll be fine. I can sit out on the patio and read.”

“Okay,” he sighs, “I worry. Do you want me to bring you anything back to eat or do you want to order pizza?”

“Your choice,” I shrug. “I’m easy.”

“Alright, I’ll be back in a couple hours.” He kisses me one more time and gets up to leave. “And be naked when I get back.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Yeah, keep calling me that. Love you,” he says without thinking and closes the door, leaving me alone in his apartment.

I walk around to check out the other rooms, and immediately I know the pale pink one must be Alyssa’s room. It’s a very nice apartment, although not nearly big enough for Eric and all six of his kids. After I finish my tour I grab my tablet and a glass of water so I can go outside and read.

♦ ♦ ♦

I’m not sure when Eric is getting back so at 7:30 I strip out of my clothes and get into his bed to wait for him. The bed is comfortable and smells like him. I roll onto my stomach hug one of the pillows. I close my eyes, just intending to relax, and the next thing I know, I’m sound asleep.

“Sookie,” I hear Eric’s voice and my body moving. “Wake up, pretty girl.”

“Mmm… what time is it?” I ask without opening my eyes.

“Just after eight-thirty. The pizza just got here,” he says quietly. “Do you want me to bring some in here for you?”

“No, I’ll get up. I’ll be there in a minute.”

“Stay naked,” he runs his hand down my back, starting at my shoulder and ending on my butt. He kisses my head and then leaves me alone.

I roll over and open my eyes. It takes a few seconds for me to shake off the sleepy haze fogging my brain, but then I sit up and scoot off the bed. I look down and there are definitely bruises on my hips from the quickie. In the kitchen I find Eric leaned against the counter, eating a slice of pizza.

“Sorry I fell asleep,” I apologize.

“No problem, if I didn’t think you should eat I would’ve let you sleep… Sookie, you have bruises,” he notices.

“Yeah, I just saw them.” I peek into the pizza box and grab a slice for myself.

“I’m so sorry, I’ll be more careful with you.”

“I’m alright,” I assure him, and take a bite of my pizza.

“I don’t like it,” he frowns.

“So kiss them and make it better.”

“Can we finish eating first?”

“Yes, sir,” I wink, and take another bite.

“I really think I enjoy this ‘sir’ thing. It’s crazy sexy,” he smiles.

“You’re good at it. I think it comes naturally to you,” I tell him.

“Huh, who would’ve guessed? How’s your ass feeling after your birthday spanking last night?” I notice he reaches down to adjust himself as he asks this.

“It’s a little sore, but that just reminds me of the good, hard fuck I got afterward,” I smile. “And I’ve taken one harder than that before.”

“Maybe we shouldn’t talk about this right now. I’m ready to throw down the pizza and bend you over the table.”

“Oh no you won’t,” I smirk. “Only one set of sex bruises at a time.”

“Shit, what if I bend you over the arm of the couch?” he queries, dead serious.

“I thought we weren’t talking about this right now?” I take another bite.

“We weren’t, but you mentioned a good fuck and I decided I need to give you another good fuck now. I’m a man, Sookie, and I’m standing in front of my naked girl. I’m going to talk about bending you over something,” he tries to reason.

“And here I thought I’d ride you hard, but if you want to bend me over…”

He thinks about it a moment, clearly trying to figure out what he’d rather have. “I think I want you to ride me. I can suck on these,” he says as he reaches out to cup my right breast, feeling its weight in his palm.

“Quit it or I won’t finish eating either… Sir.”

“I want you to ride me so fucking hard, pretty girl,” he whispers and runs his thumb over my nipple.

“You’re trouble.” I drop my pizza on the box and pick up his hand to suck on two of his fingers.

Two can play this game.

“No, baby, I’m horny,” he groans when I run my tongue between his fingers.  He’s dropped his pizza as well and his other hand is rubbing over my ass now.

I push him back to sit on the chair and I straddle his lap. I start sucking his fingers like I would his cock, and I see fire in his eyes.

Eric reaches up with his free hand and runs his fingertips over my jaw. He drags them down along my throat, and then across my collarbone. When his fingers reach my breasts his eyes follow his movements and he draws light circles around my nipples. He removes his fingers from my mouth and moves his moist fingers down between my legs. Eric pulls my body forward, dipping his head down and he takes a nipple between his lips as his searching fingers find my clit. My hands find his head and I thread my fingers through his hair, holding him to my chest.

“Mmm… That feels so good, baby,” I say, and start to rock my hips.

Eric grunts in response before moving to my neglected nipple.

The fingers he has between my thighs move back through my folds until he reaches my opening. His thick fingers plunge into my pussy, making me gasp.

As he pumps in and out,  Eric releases my nipple and pulls my face to his for a fevered kiss. Without hesitation his tongue sweeps through my mouth as his fingers go deeper into my snatch.

“I want you to cum on my hand, pretty girl,” Eric breathes into my mouth.

I nod and reach down to rub my clit to help myself along.

“There you go, good girl,” Eric murmurs against my skin as he kisses my neck.

With two fingers inside of me and his other hand gently caressing my breast, I’m not going to take long to reach completion. I rub my clit in quick, tight circles, I can feel the pressure building.

“I’m cumming,” I moan and Eric’s fingers still. He starts to rub over my g-spot and my whole body seizes as I erupt.

EPOV

“Take my cock out, Sookie,” I tell her softly.

She stands up on shaky legs and unbuttons my pants before pulling them down my legs when I lift for her. I strip my own shirt off and toss it across the room.

Sookie wraps her hand around my shaft as I sit back in the kitchen chair. Her small hand strokes up and down my length, making sure I’m hard and ready to take her.

“Kiss me,” I command.

Her eyes lock onto mine and she brings her lips to mine. When our mouths meet it’s gentle, our eyes still open. She rests on my lap again, continuously stroking my cock.

My hands land on her hips as I rub her bruises lightly with my thumbs.

“I’m still sorry about this,” I whisper.

“It’s okay,” she says, and rubs her thumb over my tip.

“Do that again,” I moan, closing my eyes.

She does.

My hands move back on her hips, my fingers are digging into her back, and I pull her forward over my cock.

“Ride me.”

She rubs my tip through her wet folds until I’m at her opening. She slides down my shaft and my head drops back, she feels amazing wrapped around me. Sookie grabs my shoulders and starts to move up and down my shaft slowly.

“Mmm… Baby, your cock feels so good when you’re buried in me,” she says when I am, and rocks her hips.

“Mmhmm,” I all I can get out.

She begins to move up and down, and my hands slide down to hold onto her ass. I run my finger along the crease of her ass, applying slight pressure against her rear hole. My lips circle her nipple and I’m completely lost in her.

“Dad?”

We freeze.

Sookie wraps her arms around me, hiding her breasts.

“Go to your room,” I tell him. I don’t know how or why Christian showed up, but he’s probably going to be scarred for life now.

Thankfully he listens to me and as soon as I hear the door close I help Sookie stand and we go to my room.

“Jesus fucking Christ!” I growl. “I probably just broke my son, Sookie.”

“I don’t even know what to say,” she says while she pulls on her dress.

“I have to go talk to him. I don’t know what to say either. How did he get here?” I ask, I know she doesn’t know.

I slip on a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt. I go into the bathroom and wash my hands. I come back out and just stand in the middle of the room.

“I’m going to talk to him,” I say again. I don’t want to do this.

Sookie sits on the edge of my bed and reaches out for me to come to her. I walk over and hold onto her as she wraps her arms around my waist.

“Do you have any words of encouragement?” I ask, dead serious.

“At least you weren’t fucking me in the ass on the couch?” she tries.

“Right, that doesn’t help,” I shake my head. I lean down to kiss her. “Wish me luck.”

“Good luck. I’m sorry I’m not more helpful. I don’t have much experience with kids.”

“It’s okay.”

I exit my room and make my way to the closed door on the other side of my apartment. I open the door with a soft knock and I find Christian sitting on the left side bed looking at his phone. Shit; he’s probably telling his friends.

“Hey,” is all I can think to say.

“That chick has a great ass,” he says without looking up. “Too bad I’m broken for life.”

“I…” now I’m broken. “She does,” I agree. “I’m sorry you had to see that.”

“Yeah, so am I. Is she your girlfriend? She looks like she’s Levi’s age. That’s kinda gross, Dad.”

“Yes, Sookie is my girlfriend, and yes she is a few years younger than me. She’s a sweet girl and I think once you get to know her it won’t be so gross.”

“I saw her naked,” he smirks.

Shit, he’s into girls already. I don’t want to know about this yet. “I would appreciate if you forgot that part.”

“Too late. That’s seared into my memory,” he says, but cringes. “Maybe from now on you could keep the sexcapades in your room like a normal dad.”

“You’ll figure it out one day,” I wink. “Please don’t run off and tell your siblings about this, or your mother.”

“Already told Ry,” he says. “He asked for pictures of her.”

Fuck, they’re all perverted. “No pictures of my girlfriend. And definitely don’t tell the twins.”

“They’ll steal her from you,” he says.

“You’re crazy, kid,” I laugh. “Do you want to meet her?”

“Is she still naked? I didn’t get the full monty.”

“Don’t be a shit, and no, she has clothes on.”

Chris stands up and says, “I could leave and come back in an hour.”

“What for… oh, no you’re not leaving for that reason. This is your house too. Come meet her,” I offer again.

“Alright.”

Chris follows me out of the room and I notice Sookie picked my clothes up which I appreciate. She’s sitting on the couch and I pull him to stand in front of me, resting my hands on his shoulders. He’s getting tall and I won’t be able to do this soon.

“Sookie, this is Christian, the youngest male of the clan. Chris, this is my girlfriend, Sookie,” I introduce them.

“Nice to meet you, Christian,” Sookie says.

“You too. It’s Chris,” my son says.

He’s being polite. I’m in shock. “We have pizza if you’re hungry, Chris.”

“Wait, aren’t you Levi’s girlfriend?” Shit.

“Uh… I–”

“Long story that I won’t be sharing with you, kid” I cut Sookie off. “And a big misunderstanding.”

“I’m never sitting in the kitchen again. I hope you know that,” he grins and Sookie buries her face in her hands.

“Go eat,” I sigh and start to push him toward the kitchen where the pizza box is.

“Sook,” I whisper and sit down next to her on the couch. I pull her hands from her face, my poor girl is mortified. “He’ll probably tease you for a long time. I can tell him to stop, but it’s more fun just to tease back.”

“He saw me naked, Eric,” she hisses in a whisper. “We were having sex. Does that not embarrass the fuck out of you? This is not how I wanted to meet him.”

“Yes, I’m embarrassed, but we can’t change it now,” I tell her and pull her in for a hug to comfort her. “I don’t think this is how you want to meet anyone. It’s another thing we can’t change though.”

“I know,” she sighs.

“Be yourself, mostly, I might need you to tone down the sexy a bit,” I tease, making her smile. “There, now just act normal. He already likes you… probably more than he should.”

“Please don’t tell me you guys played sex games with the pizza,” Chris calls from the kitchen with a slice of pizza in his mouth.

“No,” I say and he turns to grab another piece. He eats a lot these days since he’s growing and if he’s anything like the other boys he’ll be growing a few inches this summer. “Chris,  why are you here?”

“Because I can’t stand Mom’s new friend Arlene. Her kids are annoying as hell.”

“Are they there a lot?” I ask him.

“Enough,” he shrugs. I’ll have to talk to Aude about this.

“How much is enough?”

“Like, almost everyday. They’ve been coming over for like two weeks now.”

“I’ll talk to her,” I say and Chris finally comes out of the kitchen. He sits on the couch with us, which is strange for him these days.

“So, Sookie how do you know my dad?” he asks her. She still doesn’t know how to talk to him.

“We met at a party,” she answers.

“How did you meet Levi?” Fuck me, he’s going there.

“Not a story you need to hear,” I remind him and he smirks.

“It’s sneaky. I want to know about it.”

“It’s not sneaky, now cool it,” I say a little firmer.

“I’m gonna go in my room, you kids control yourselves,” he teases and Sookie’s face turns beet red.

“Watch it,” I growl at him and he just laughs as he slips into his room.

“Oh. My. God.”

Sookie looks like she’s hoping for a hole in the floor to open up and swallow her. She gets up and heads for my bedroom. I follow behind her and she closes the door behind us.

“We need to come up with a story,” she says in a panic. “They probably already know how I met Levi. There’s no point in lying about that. Should we tell them I was a waitress at Alcide’s bachelor party?”

“That works, but they know that was while I was with their mom,” I point out.

“Yeah, but they probably know I came to town to see Levi, Eric! I dumped my boyfriend for his father I never met? No.”

“I’m so mad at him right now. I know it’s not fair, but I’m blaming Levi for this. If you guys wouldn’t have hooked up this wouldn’t be an issue.”

“And the argument could be made that if you hadn’t cheated on your wife this wouldn’t have happened either,” she fires back. “This isn’t Levi’s fault and it’s not at all fair to blame him.”

“I know,” I sigh, “I just don’t want them to know you’re the reason their mom left. I don’t think they’ll care either way, but its not fair for you to be labeled as a homewrecker.”

“But I am, Eric,” she says. “I have to live with the choices I made the same as you. If you try to protect me from this you’re just going to end up hurting them more by lying. The truth always comes out.”

“Do you always have to be so reasonable?” I ask her. “We’ll tell them I met you at the bachelor party. You were a waitress and I didn’t tell you I was married. It’s my mess, I’ll take responsibility if they ask.”

Sookie doesn’t look happy, but she nods her agreement.

“I don’t want them to judge you, for anything.”

“I would deserve it if they did.”

“You don’t deserve it, Sookie. You’re a good person and I love you. I want my kids to love you too. Not telling them what you were doing when we met has more to do with their ages. They don’t need to know about prostitution,” I pause and take a deep breath. “I’m not ashamed of you or what you were doing. I’ll tell anyone that asks and be proud, but I don’t think you want all of Utah knowing you were into prostitution.”

“I’m not saying you have to tell them that. I agree that isn’t their business. But the fact that you cheated with me will eventually come out. Why not issue a preemptive strike?”

I didn’t want to tell them I cheated, but it’s bound to come out eventually and I need to come to terms with that.

“I’ll tell them,” I say. “You’re right.”

“I know,” she smiles.

“You’re right a lot aren’t you?” I grin.

“I have my moments.”

“Should I tell Chris now?” I know he’s going to find out eventually.

“Might as well get it over with. Isn’t it better if he hears the truth from you?”

“Yeah, you want to be there when I tell him?”

“I think you should talk to him alone.”

“Shit, I was hoping you’d go with me,” I grin and kiss her quickly on the lips.

I get up and go to his bedroom. Again, I knock as I open the door. He’s on the bed with his earbuds in and playing a game on his phone.

“Can we talk a minute?” I ask when he pulls his earbuds out.

“Yeah, I guess. Your girlfriend want to try another Northman?” he snorts.

The look I pin him with makes him lose the smirk.

“I wanted to clear things up with regards to Sookie,” I tell him.

“Okay?”

“I met her before your mom and I split,  I was seeing her then,” I give him a second for that to digest.

“So you cheated on Mom? That’s messed up, Dad.”

“I know, and I’m not going to defend my actions. It was wrong, and your mother knows about it.”

“No wonder she kicked you out,” he says. “Well, at least you guys are even now.”

“What?” I quirk an eyebrow in question. “What does that mean?”

“It means on the weekends Aunt Isabel,” Aude’s best friend for as long as I can remember, “Spent the night you were out of town. She always slept in Mom’s room.”

“That doesn’t mean anything, I’ve always known they were close,” I reason. I don’t like the idea of Aude bringing a lover in the house with the kids. Not that anything is going on with Isabel.

“They locked the door and more than once whatever they were doing in there woke Lyss up in the middle of the night,” he says.

“Motherfucker!” I yell and stand to start pacing.  I don’t give a flying fuck that Aude cheated, or that it was with a woman, but she brought the bitch around my kids.

Chris stays quiet for a change.

“Sorry,” I say, I try not to curse so much around the younger kids.

“I thought you knew,” Chris says.

“Apparently I didn’t,” I snap. “Sorry, I’m not mad at you.”

Chris starts to get his stuff.

“I think I should go by Jake’s house or see if I can crash with Ry,” he says.

“You don’t have to go, kid, I like having you here.” Especially knowing his mom is having loud sex in my fucking house.

“Yeah but it’s a messed up here as it is at home,” he says, and picks up his backpack. “Mom’s doing whatever with Arlene and Aunt Isabel and you’re banging Levi’s girlfriend… It’s messed up.”

“I’ll take you if you insist on going.” Ryan doesn’t live too far and I trust him with his brother.

Chris makes the call and Ryan doesn’t mind having him over.

“Seriously, Dad, get one of those do not disturb signs for the future,” he smirks.

“Duly noted.”

We leave the room and I tell Sookie I’ll be back a minute and I have to tell her something when I get back. Chris and I walk down to the Escalade and we take the short drive to Ryan’s. I’m not going to get into what’s going on with him so I watch Chris until he gets into the house.

When I get back to my apartment I find Sookie cleaning the kitchen. I wrap my arms around her from behind and sag against her. Now I know why Aude was being so accommodating with the divorce.

  1. ooohhhh my goodness, gotta say both my children have busted my husband and I because they refused to knock on forgotten to be locked closed doors. They tell me they are scarred for life and I just laugh at them! (They are adults now so its at that point where we can laugh about it) Eric handled that well and I knew something was up with Aude but wow in front of the kids sigh at least Eric was discrete.

  2. Poor kids! My son would go blind if he walked in on us! He’s old enough now that hopefully he would recover his sight fairly quickly. Lol I love Eric’s kiddos! And I love this story!

  3. I think my heart stopped when I read “Dad?” Glad Eric decided to be honest about cheating on Aude and it makes sense why she was so agreeable about the divorce.

  4. Suspected as much about Aude. She didn’t really have a right to get angry, did she? No wonder those two had such a lackluster marriage. Oh what a tangled web we weave!

  5. This has to go down on the top 5 list of most mortifying things that can happen to a parent. And now we have the other shoe drop about Aude. Can we all say “people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”? Of course their focus now has to be on the kids because Chris’s comments are quite accurate.

  6. So aude’s been getting her cheat on. That’s probably why the sex sucked, she was a big fat lez and married Eric because of her mormon(most likely) family.

  7. Can’t say I’m surprised about Aude. Chris’s comments? A little out of line, but he smiled! Oh, out of the mouths of babes… Great chapter, especially Eric & Sookie’s discussion. It was needed & both made good points. Tough spots to be in. Can not wait to see where this goes!

  8. Aude cheating isn’t a surprise I just hope Eric tells her off for acting so self-righteous and has her tell the kids that they were both cheating.
I may have missread it, but I got the impression that Aude was Morman, isn’t being gay against their belief?

  9. Ah…..the writers had a suspicion that Aude was getting some outside of the marriage and we were right!! Hopefully, she’ll “man up” and tell their kids not to blame dad for everything; that she is just as complicit…..

  10. I love how crazy messed up this is. This is beyond disfuctional and its horrible that I’m laughing right now. I knew Aude had something going on. You girls are fantastic, this story is so much fun.

    • LOL! Too true, Mindy! It really is just so dysfunctional, but what is functional? It’s like watching a horrible car wreck in slow motion, but you can’t look away-terrible analogy. Just can’t wait for the new chapter every day – so fun & yet so twisted, but oh, those lemons! It’s taken the place of my chocolate, so my waistline thanks you ladies!!

  12. So you’re fucking shit up again so soon lol! Well at least they got the getting walked in on by a kid over with already. And with six kids the odds of that happening were quite high.
I felt sad for Sookie at the start, she is feeling the weight of responsibility for all the married men she slept with now, while Eric remains so upbeat. Maybe this has something to do with her having had a full of shit life where the worst that can happen often does whilst Eric may not have been happy all the time but he has led a relatively charmed successful life. Granted marriage & six kids has to have been hard work, but he’s used to things working out OK. And it just did again; Levi was OK with him, Chris took that very well & now Aude’s affairs will probably absolve some of his guilt in his head at least. Hey, eveything will be OK! Sookie was right to push him to be honest about the cheating. I think he got a little wake up call with Sookie’s bruises. There are consequences for what he does now & she is his to nurture & protect, not use without thought.

    • It’s interesting you say that about protecting Sookie because that’s something that will definitely come up in the future. Once the reality of their situation and relationship sets in you’ll see the fiercely protective Eric we’re used to where Sookie is concerned and he doesn’t tolerate anyone treating her badly.

Eric has definitely had a relatively charmed life in many ways. Despite being a parent and a husband at such a young age he’s worked hard and has had a successful career that’s afforded him the ability to own a nice home and live a very good life with his family. That’s not to say that he hasn’t had his own set of hardships or challenges along the way, but nothing as overtly tragic as the sort of things Sookie’s been through. She’s suffered a great deal of trauma and I think Eric wants to ensure that she never goes through anything like she has in her past ever again.

That said, I do think Eric’s sort of skated through all of this relatively unscathed. If the worst thing that happens is Christ catching them having sex, I think he’s damn lucky. I don’t think Aude cheating absolves him of any guilt or responsibility for what he’s done, though. If anything, it’s only that more tragic because he didn’t even realize that his wife was seeing someone else, or that her lack of attraction to him wasn’t even about him. If Aude truly is a lesbian it’s a shame that she’s lived a lie for so many years.

Whether Aude hid it because of the Mormon background in her family, because she didn’t know how to deal with it or because she was trying to shield her children from having to explain things it’s hard to say. Regardless, I always think it’s sad when someone fakes their way through life. Just like Sookie says, the truth always comes out.

  13. Ok, cheating is one thing. And Eric’s right, he has no grounds to complain about the cheating. Bringing the affair into the house while the kids are there though? Definitely grounds to be upset.
Chris is very funny. Hope he doesn’t cross the line too much with jokes about Sookie.

  14. Love how you guys wrote the fact that Eric is older then Sookie .. The reaction from Chris was spot on .. My dads wife is only 5 years older than me and I’m almost 30 .. So ya I had the same reaction only my dad had me at 24 not 17 so it a bigger gap ..
Amazing story I’m totally addicted !!

  15. Well the cat’s out of the bag in more ways than one… Glad that Sookie is thinking about her former profession in a different light. I Don’t want her consumed by guilt but I am sure more marriages than Eric’s were broke up. As for Aude, I bet she was fine with his cheating until she fell in love with Arlene. Then, Eric was the perfect fall guy for why they split up.

    • You know, I’m a little torn on Sookie’s level of responsibility when it comes to breaking up marriages because of her profession. Yes, men are cheating on their wives but the fact remains that they would do it regardless of whether they paid for sex or if they just met a random woman in a bar. Sookie doesn’t owe these women anything. She’s not breaking any vows, trust or being disloyal to them. It’s all on the husbands. It’s easy to say the men wouldn’t cheat if the women weren’t available, but that takes the responsibility off of their shoulders. It somehow implies that just because it’s there they have to partake in it. Clearly that’s not true because there are plenty of men that don’t cheat.

In the end, it’s all on Eric. He’s the one that ruined his marriage by seeing Sookie. The fact that she takes any responsibility at all for it just goes to show her true character and what kind of person she is. I think Eric’s lack of guilt and remorse speaks of his character just as much.

    • I see your point here, Meg. Sookie, as Dixie, wouldn’t know unless the “paying customer” told her he was married, and even if they were, it’s still not on her because they were coming to her. A cheater will cheat. Repeatedly. You’re also correct in saying they’ll do it no matter whom the woman is; this happens in real life – be it a hooker, waitress, a co-worker, or someone they meet in a bar. As for men who would never cheat, I’m married to one! He’s home 20 minutes after work, and I can’t get him out his recliner afterward! If he’s cheating on me with anyone, it’s the NHL, NFL, & Tony Soprano! LOL! Yes, it is on Eric – he did indeed ruin his marriage by cheating. I think that was my point when I was trying to state that something was off about the whole thing – Eric’s lack of remorse, guilt, and his entire lack of regard for how it effected anyone but him when he was no longer able to get what HE wanted – Sooxie. I wonder, at his age (40), will he really be able to change? I hope you’ll be able to write as being someone who’s able to do some serious inventory on himself, soul-searching, and really wanting to make the changes he needs to in order to be a better man, and a better father. His kids are going to need an emotionally healthy parent.

  16. Interesting chapter covering a lot of things. I guess now that Sookie is starting out a real relationship with a man she is contemplating her past a bit more. I have to agree with another commenter….with all those kids getting walked in on will be a common occurrence. Come on guys, you aren’t at the brothel anymore where the main thing is sex, nudity and sex…all the time. They are going to have to learn how to deal with the reality of all those kids, some of whom can drive and show up unexpectedly. (When he told her to be naked when he returned I was slightly afraid one of the kids would beat him home….)

See we were right…Aude does have her own side gig going on. But tread carefully there Eric. Yes, she is having an affair and yes it was happening at the house with the kids. But you were seeing a prostitute and spending loads of money and time away from your family. Who’s more in the wrong here…..? These are murky waters everyone is treading in. In the end both Aude and Eric cheated. What a sad state of affairs for those kids to be in…

    Looking forward to more!
