Chapter 11

Previous

I wake up with the worst hangover I’ve ever had. My head hurts and I feel like I’m going to hurl. I literally roll out of bed, butt naked, and crawl to the bathroom so I can throw up. After spending fifteen minutes emptying my stomach, I pull myself up on the vanity and turn on the water to rinse my mouth out.

I groan when I look in the mirror. My makeup is smeared, my hair is a rat’s nest and judging by the soreness between my legs I’m sure I had sex. But with who? I vaguely remember meeting a seriously sexy dark haired guy… fuck, what was his name? I can’t remember.

Water. I need water and aspirin. Maybe some greasy breakfast.

Just thinking of food makes my stomach turn. Okay, so no food right now. I stagger back to bed, only to realize Jessica is asleep, also naked. When I pull back the blanket I find Neveah too… and one hell of a sex toy trapped between them. Well… that explains my sore lady parts.

I get back into bed and pull the blanket up over my head. I just want to sleep.

The next thing I know I hear the shower running and the TV on. I groan and peek out from behind the blanket. Jessica has already showered and is sitting at the foot of the bed, combing her hair.

“Coffee?” I moan.

Neveah starts singing a Katy Perry song in the shower. She’s a shit singer.

“Morning, sunshine,” Jessica smiles over her shoulder. “There’s coffee on the bar. Want me to get you some?”

“Yes, and please stop screaming,” I groan.

When I roll over I end up lying on the ridiculously big dildo one of them brought along. I’m guessing it was Neveah. Jess gets up and gets me a cup of coffee, which I reluctantly sit up to drink. Jess kindly starts to gently pull bobby pins out of my hair for me.

“What’s the name of the guy I met last night?” I ask and take a sip of the yummy smelling dark roast under my nose.

“Levi, and he was sexy as hell and he really likes you. You exchanged numbers,” she says.

“Good,” I nod. “I didn’t have sex with him, did I?” I ask just to be safe. Maybe he was up here with us.

“No,” she giggles, “You told him you were a good girl and his mother should be ashamed of him for expecting you to. Thankfully he laughed and said you were cute.”

I feel relieved. I had way too much to drink last night to consent to having sex with him.

“This is going to sound crazy considering my profession, but I’m not really the kind of girl that sleeps with a guy on the first date,” I tell Jessica. “And last night wasn’t even a date.”

“That’s because you are a good girl,” she tells me, “But you gave him one hell of boner when you kissed him goodnight.”

“Seriously?”

“Seriously. He said he wanted to meet for lunch today, but you told him it’s a girl’s weekend so he’ll have to wait. He likes you though; he said he’d wait,” she shrugs. “I think you should go out with him if he calls.”

“I just wish I could remember more. What the hell did we drink last night?”

“I think the better question is what didn’t we drink?”

“Ugh,” I groan.

The shower turns off and Neveah stops her screeching.

“So what’s with the big, purple monster I rolled onto?” I ask.

“Better safe than sorry,” Jess says. “We were all super horny and Neveah brought it along so…”

“Well, at least it explains why I’m sore.”

“You took it pretty hard… and begged for it deeper.”

“Jesus,” I mutter.

“I think we’re calling him Levi now. He looked pretty huge when you were kissing him.” she winks and I laugh, falling back on the bed.

“I’m too hungover to be cute today. I feel like shit, Jess. First dates and hangovers don’t go together.”

“Well then we can go sit out by the pool and drink mimosas all day. A little hair of the dog. Maybe if you’re feeling better later your new boy toy can meet us with his friends.”

“Were his friends cute too? It really blows that I can’t remember. You guys didn’t Alan me, did you?”

Jessica cackles before letting me know his friends were indeed very cute. Levi was the best looking though. “And no, we didn’t Alan you,” she adds.

Neveah comes out of the bathroom naked, towel drying her hair.

“You’re awake,” she grins.

“Oh yeah. After you screeching ‘I Kissed A Girl’ how could I not be?” I snicker and drink my coffee. Oh, and I grab her ginormous dildo and throw it at her. “And thanks for breaking my vagina with that thing.”

“You asked for it,” she shrugs. “I think the new guy made you all hot.”

“I don’t remember,” I admit.

“Well I do. He’s…” Neveah holds up her hands to give me Levi’s dimensions.

“Shut up,” I laugh and roll my eyes.

“I invited him to hang out with us today. I told him we’d meet them down at the pool around one,” she says, my mouth drops.

“Geez, guys, anxious to get me rebounding with someone much?”

“I don’t think we’d push so hard if he wasn’t so hot and clearly into you,” Jessica admits.

“Alright,” I sigh. “I’m going to go shower and then I need food.”

I get out of bed and on my way to the bathroom, Neveah slaps my ass. Which is also sore. Christ, what didn’t we do last night?

Two hours later I’m fed and not feeling so shitty. I’ve got a white bikini on with silver sequin stripes on it and my hair is hanging loose to keep the headache at bay. Jess orders up a round of mimosas and Neveah and I find three vacant chairs so we can sit down.

“Good Lord, it’s hot out here,” I say as I spread out my towel.

“I think the boy walking toward us is making it warmer than it should be,” Jess murmurs, nodding her head to the three guys walking our direction.

The one on the left is definitely Levi and I feel completely unprepared to talk to him.

“Sweet baby Jesus,” I mutter under my breath.

“Uh huh,” the girls reply in unison.

I sit down on my chair, refusing to act like some desperate school girl. I’ve been with more guys than ole Levi probably wants to know about. I can handle him.

“Hey, pretty girl,” he greets me when he stands next to my chair. “How are you feeling today?”

Him calling me pretty girl in a voice that sounds familiar freaks me out a little, but I shake it off.

“Hungover. How about you?” I ask him.

“Better now,” he smiles, flashing me his perfect teeth. “Thanks for inviting us out. I really wanted to see you again.”

“No problem. I’m glad you could make it. How long are you in town?” I’m assuming he’s not from around here.

“Til Tuesday, my birthday is tomorrow and I plan on being hung over all day Monday,” he says. “What about you, how long are you here?”

“Until Monday, and then it’s back to South Lake Tahoe for me. And happy early birthday. How old will you be tomorrow?”

“Twenty-three, you should come out with us tomorrow,” he invites me and takes a seat at the edge of my lounge chair. A little close, but I’m not complaining.

“Where are you going to celebrate this important event?”

“Vince Neil’s Girls, Girls, Girls,” he chuckles. His laugh is so much like his it’s scary. “My Godfather told me I have to and booked us a VIP room.”

“Sounds like a great godfather,” I smile, and take one of the mimosas when Jess offers it to me. “It’s been a while since I’ve been to a strip club.”

“How long is a while?” he asks, cocking an eyebrow.

“Mmm… I think we went to one about four months ago?” I look to Neveah and she nods. “Yep, four months ago.”

“It was Candi’s birthday,” she reminds me. “You rocked those pole dancing lessons.”

“I think I’m going to like getting to know you,” he laughs. “You’re a little wild, even though you’re such a ‘good girl’.” he actually uses air quotes.

“I can be both, can’t I? Besides, pole dancing can be an art form if you know what you’re doing.”

“I’ll wait to see, I’ve only been to one shit strip club in Utah. The girls were nothing like you.”

I smile and debate whether I should mention I used to dance in Louisiana. Nah, I’ll bring it up later.

“Thank you. And they don’t grow boys like you back in Louisiana either,” I tell him.

“I thought I detected an accent, Miss South Lake Tahoe.”

“I’m a transplant. Does this mean you’re from Utah, or did you take a wrong turn?”

“Utah born and raised. It’s shitty there, but it’s home.”

“Every place has its pros and cons,” I shrug.

“I guess, right now Vegas has one very big pro,” he says.

“Two dollar buffets?”

He laughs before answering, “No, one very pretty blond willing to accompany me to a strip club.”

I lean forward and whisper in his ear, “I might even dance for you, since it’s your birthday and all.”

“Make that two very big pros,” he smirks.

I sit back and drink the rest of my mimosa.

“I could use a swim. I’m all hot,” I fan myself. “Want to come make sure I don’t drown?”

He does one better; he scoops me up from the lounge chair bridal style and walks to the pool with me. “I’ll keep you safe,” he says and kisses me sweetly on the lips.

It makes my heart beat faster and the next thing I know he’s jumping into the pool with me in his arms.

“Hey kid, how was Vegas?” I ask when Levi walks into my apartment.

“Awesome,” he grins, and holds up a bag. “This is for you.”

“What’s this?” I ask, looking into the bag. There are two shot glasses and a beer mug that looks like a pair of tits. Classy. “Thanks,” I laugh, “Do you remember much from the trip? I assume you spent the trip fairly drunk.”

“I was a disaster yesterday, but it was so worth it. Best birthday ever. I met this super hot chick in a casino and I got the craziest lap dance from her on Sunday. Seriously, Dad, she was smokin’ hot.”

“Yeah? You were safe right?” I ask, being a dad for a moment.

“Didn’t nail her. I want to, though.”

“Aww, I’m almost proud of you,” I wink, “Did she go to the club Al booked for you?”

“Yes, she did. Her and two of her equally hot friends.”

“Sounds like you lucked out. Are you going to see her again?” I probe.

“I am. We’re going to meet halfway. She lives in California, so we’ll meet somewhere in Nevada next weekend,” he says, and grabs himself a drink from the fridge.

“Are you going to tell me what made the lap dance so crazy?” I ask.

“Her friends joined in,” he grins. “And not a fake tit in the bunch.”

“Nice. I had a run in with fake tits recently. Things didn’t end well,” I laugh.

“I guess that means you’re over the hooker,” Levi says as he plops down on the couch.

“I’m not going to sit around and pine over her is more like it. I’m still fairly young,” I shrug. “Time to start fresh.”

“Good for you, Dad,” he nods.

I smile and get up to grab a glass of water. When I come back Levi has his feet on the couch, smiling like an idiot. He’s looking at his phone, so I assume he got a text message from his new girl.

“Your stripper already messaging you?” I tease and sit next to him.

“Her name is Sookie,” he says. “And yes, it was her. She just wanted to make sure I got home okay since she went home on Monday.”

“That’s sweet; you must’ve made an impression. When are you bringing her home to meet me?” I’ve met quite a few of Levi’s girls, but this one sounds like a lot of fun and will be good for him.

“We haven’t even been out on a date yet, Dad. It’s a little soon to do the meeting the parents thing, especially since she’s so far away.”

“Eh, you’ll be in love soon enough. You’re already smitten and cheesy when you talk about her.”

“Am not,” he shakes his head.

“Yeah, o-kay,” I tease.

“I’ll tell you this, though; she tastes like cherries. That’s reason enough to stick around and get to know her better,” Levi says, and then his phone chimes again. “Sookie says hello.”

“Hello, Sookie,” I say in response. This boy already has it bad, but it’ll never last. I’ve seen the look he has on his face more times than I can count.

Aude went surprisingly easy on me with the lawyers. She only asked for child support and the house. She’s entitled to at least half of what I have in my bank account and she said she wants as little to do with me as possible. I’ll continue to pay the mortgage and she’ll pay the household bills. She’s taking on more hours and I’m taking more responsibility with the kids. We don’t have set visitation since we both agree they’re old enough to decide who they want to be around and when. I know Alyssa will spend her days off of practice with me and I feel a little smug. She loves her mother, but she’s my princess and usually picks me over Aude. Doing more with and for the kids is going to be hard with how much I work, but it’s worth it.

Levi’s girlfriend is finally coming into town so I’m meeting them for dinner at a restaurant a few blocks away. She seems great from everything he’s said about her. I’m excited to meet her.

I decide to make a good first impression. I shower after work and instead of my usual jeans and t-shirt; I wear a pair of dark gray slacks and a dark red button down shirt. I blow dry my hair, brushing it back and adding a little gel on the sides. Hell, I even shaved my face to get rid of my half gray beard.

Before I go, I call Alcide to see if he wants to join us and give Levi a hard time, but he declines. Apparently fucking his wife is more fun than teasing Levi and telling stories about him yanking his diaper off and streaking through the house in front of Aude’s church group. He was a fun kid.

I hop in my Escalade and make my way to the restaurant, parking in the back of the lot. As I walk through the lot I don’t see Levi’s car, so I imagine I’m the first to arrive. When the hostess greets me I let her know I have a reservation for three for Northman and I’m shown to our table.

When the server greets me I order a glass of wine and let her know I’m waiting for two more and give her a charming smile. She’s cute; I need to start flirting more. Al tells me constantly I need more than work and kids.

A few minutes go by and I’m looking at the menu when I hear Levi’s voice break through the din of the other patrons.

“Dad,” he calls me and I look up.

He’s standing next a gorgeous blond, she’s small and curvy and frozen in her place with a look of shock on her face that I know matches my own.

“Dixie?”
