16: Henry Rollins-Northman

go back

I knew Sookie was getting bored when she was home alone. Her small group of friends worked nights so they slept a lot during the day. On top of working, I was also looking into starting my own production company, that way I would still be doing what I know while getting off camera. It wasn’t fair to Sookie that I spent so much time with other women. In the two months we’d been together she hadn’t complained once, but I could tell when she was bothered by it. I took her to set me with me a few times just to remind her what it was like.

So I was surprising her. I noticed how she looked at other people with their dogs when we were out and about. It was one of those longing looks. I knew she didn’t want to ask me if she could get a dog because she was still having a hard time feeling like the house was ours. It was technically in my name, but I wanted her to feel like it was home.

“Do you have any idea where we’re going yet?” The sign for the animal rescue was in view.

“Not a clue,” she replied.

“Then it’s a good thing we’re here.” I pulled into the parking lot and turned off my SUV. Earlier that morning when I went to the gym I stopped to get dog food and bowls. They were in the back of the SUV so Sookie couldn’t see them. “How much do you like dogs?”

“Are we getting a dog?” She looked stunned. Excited, but stunned.

You’re getting a dog, and I’m going to hope like hell he or she likes me too,” I chuckled. “I don’t like you being at home alone, especially after everything that happened. I want you to have the company when I work or your friends aren’t around. Plus, I see the longing on your pretty face when you look at dogs.”

Sookie leaned over the console and kissed me.

“You’re amazing,” she whispered.

“I know plenty of people that would disagree with you,” I smiled. I kissed her again before adding, “It’s crazy what you’ll do when you love someone.”

“People who disagree with me can eat a di– you love someone?”

“I love you,” I confirmed. It was the first time I told her. I realized I was in love with her about a week before and waiting for the right time to tell her.

I got another kiss from her, that one much more passionate. Her fingers touched my face as her tongue danced with mine.

“I love you too,” she said when the kiss came to a gentle end.

“I’m glad to hear it.” I’d been feeling it from her for a while. “You ready to go in and find a new family member?”

“Yes! I’ll try to only pick one.”

“We only have a two bedroom house,” I laughed. I got out of the SUV and waited for Sookie at the front of the truck. I took her hand and said, “I’ve already put in applications for us to be potential adopters.”

“Multiple fur babies is just another reason to move out of the death trap.” She still hated the house.

“How about we start looking after the trip to Warrenton?” I suggested. I loved my home, but it wasn’t really a good family home. I wanted to think about our future. Buying a house that was ours was a good start. “Maybe your house will have sold by then.”

“That would be nice. I’m not fond of paying a mortgage for a house I’m not living in,” she said. “Besides, maybe someday we’ll want a furless baby or two. They’ll need a safe yard to play in.”

“Yes they will,” I agreed. I was a little surprised I felt fine with the idea of having human children with Sookie. It honestly surprised me more that she wanted them.

We reached the front door of the rescue and I pulled it open to allow Sookie in first. We could hear the dogs barking in the back. I could also feel the excitement coming off of my girl. I liked that feeling.

An older lady with long brown hair pulled up in a high ponytail walked out of the back to greet us. I assumed it was the lady I talked to on the phone, Callie.

“Hello,” I smiled.

“Hi, welcome to LA PAWS,” she said. “My name is Callie, how can I help you today?”

“I’m Eric Northman.” I held out my hand. “We spoke on the phone last week. This is Sookie.”

“Yes, I remember you,” Callie said as she shook my hand. “It’s nice to put a face to a name.”

If she watched porn at all she saw a lot more than my face…

“Likewise. I was hoping we could take a look around and see if any of the dogs would want to find their forever home with Sookie and me.”

Sookie was practically vibrating with excitement next to me.

“Absolutely, we can. I actually looked over your application and picked a few dogs I think might be best suited for you, if that’s okay. It’s nice to meet you too, Sookie.” Callie extended a hand to her too.

“You too.” Sookie shook her hand.

“That’s actually more than okay. If we got free reign to them all I’m sure Sookie would try to take the whole lot home,” I chuckled, rubbing Sookie’s lower back.

“If it gets us out of the death trap a little sooner…” she giggled.

“Death trap?” Callie looked reasonably concerned.

“Our house. It’s braced on a hillside. My fear of heights gets the better of me sometimes,” Sookie explained.

Callie laughed and said, “I would probably feel the same way. Well, if you’ll follow me I’ll show you out back to the meet ‘n greet area, and I’ll bring the dogs out one by one so you can meet them in a less chaotic environment.”

“Thanks.” I took Sookie’s hand so we could followed Callie to the back. It almost felt clinical in the room since the walls were all painted a light tan color. There was a couch in the room as well as a table and chairs we could sit in.

When Callie left the room to go get the first dog I reached up to rub Sookie’s shoulders.

“I hope you know I’m just about out of surprises,” I said with a playful smile. “After the dog, it’s all downhill.”

“I don’t believe that for a second,” she said. Sookie leaned over to kiss me. It had taken some time for her to come out of her slump, but she was leveling out a little more every day.

I hoped the dog would be a little bit more of a reminder that I was in this for the long haul with her.

Callie came into the room a few moments later with cute little Pitbull. Her tail was wagging, but it was a nervous wag. I’d watched enough Cesar to know the tells. She was mostly white with one brown ear and the tip of her tail was brown as well.

“What a pretty girl.” I squatted down so my height didn’t intimidate her. She wouldn’t even look us in the eye, and she stayed hidden behind Callie.

“This is Snow. She came to us from a dog fighting case,” Callie told us.

“Ohh poor baby,” Sookie frowned. She knelt down too and tried to peek around Callie’s legs. “Hi, sweetheart,” she said in a soft voice.

“She’s a total sweetheart,” Callie told us. “She does need to be the only dog in the house. We haven’t cat tested her, but your application said you don’t have any other animals in the house.”

“Just Eric,” Sookie teased.

“I haven’t heard any complaints,” I shrugged. “She seems sweet, but we may think about getting a second dog some day. Has she been tested with kids?”

“She’s okay with kids over ten.”

“We don’t have any kids yet, but we want them some day.” She finally got close enough for me to pet her. Sookie was home enough to work with a dog like Snow, but the no dogs and older kids was probably going to be an issue.

“She seems very sweet and I’m sure she would come out of her shell with a little bit of patience and time,” Sookie said. “But I don’t know if she’s feeling us.” She reached out to scratch Snow’s neck, but the dog wasn’t reacting much to either of us.

“That’s okay. You never know how a dog might react. I’d love to see this girl get a great forever home,” Callie said. “Come on, Snow, let’s get you back in your kennel.”

“Maybe I’ll tell Ras to come check her out. He has no plans of having kids,” I said once Callie left the room. Sookie’s bleeding heart was bleeding onto me.

“Ooooh that would be great. I bet he’d be ass over elbows for her in no time.”

“Definitely,” I chuckled. “He could use a companion.”

“He really could,” she giggled.

Callie came back into the room with a second dog. This one looked like a mix of some kind. He was colored similar to a Jack Russell, but a little bigger. He also had the energy of a Jack Russell.

“Whoa,” I laughed when ran straight to me and jumped up, trying to lick my face.

“This is Loco,” Callie laughed. “I don’t think I need to explain why.”

“He’s excited, huh?” Sookie almost got knocked over when Loco jumped on her.

“He’s high energy, that’s for sure. He’ll make a great running partner.”

“I’d have to take up running,” Sookie laughed. She had started doing yoga. In our living room.

“Lover, I’m not sure running is your thing.” Her tits were way too big for her to be running. “I’d like to watch it though.” Loco came back to me. His tail wag was a high energy one that could easily turn into aggression. I wasn’t feeling it for him. “I’m not sure Mr. Loco is the guy for us.”

“I think he’s a little too hyped up for us,” Sookie agreed.

“Okay,” Callie nodded. “Come on, kiddo. Today’s not your day.”

Loco didn’t want to leave. It took some coaxing from Callie to get him out the door.

“Loco is an appropriate name for him,” Sookie commented.

“Agreed,” I said, reaching out to rub her back. “He needs a good family with kids to wear him out.”

“I don’t know, he might be too much for kids even. I’d be worried he’d knock my little ones over,” she said.

“I’m thinking nine and ten-year-olds,” I said. “I’m sure he’ll find someone to love him. At least, I hope he does. He seemed pretty nice.”

“He’d be good for Hadley. He’d probably chew up all her shit, which used to be my shit.” Sookie was still bitter about the burglary.

“The dirty cow would deserve it,” I muttered just as the door opened again. A chocolate brown dog walked through. His ears were up as he checked us out. He was a little bigger than the last two, and clearly part Pit bull. He was mixed with something but I couldn’t quite tell what. As soon as he saw us his ears went down and one of those cute dog smiles spread across his face. I glanced over at Sookie. I swore I saw hearts in her eyes like an emoji or some shit.

“This handsome young man is Henry Rollins. He was a drop off three weeks ago. His family had to move overseas and couldn’t take him. He’s great with kids and other dogs,” Callie told us.

“Hi, Henry,” Sookie said, holding out her hand for him to sniff. Right away he dropped on his side for belly rubs. “Ohhhhh that’s my boy,” she laughed, and scooted over to scratch him. He wiggled and squirmed on his back, obviously in puppy heaven.

Sookie was sold.

“He seems like a big lover,” I chuckled. I moved over next to Sookie so I could give Henry scratches and pets too. His head lolled to the side to look at me with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. It had been fifteen seconds and I already knew he was coming home with us. “Can you imagine this big guy curled up on the couch with you?”

“I can imagine him curled up in bed with me while you’re on the couch,” Sookie giggled.

“I don’t think so, Tim,” I laughed. “He seems to really like you.”

“Yes he does,” she agreed. “How old is he?”

“Three. He’s housetrained, crate trained, neutered, microchipped and came from a family with kids from the ages of eight months to seven years. He’s never been aggressive with any of them. From what the family said he’s a moderately active dog who likes going for walks or taking naps on the couch,” Callie said.

“Sounds too good to be true,” Sookie replied. “What do you think, babe?”

“I think Henry Rollins sounds like a keeper,” I replied. He displayed all the traits we were looking for. Almost as if he was meant to be ours.

“We want him,” Sookie grinned.

“Great. I’ll get the paperwork so we can make it official.”

“Thank you, Callie.” When she walked out of the room I leaned over to kiss Sookie. “We’re puppy parents together.” It was cheesy but I liked the idea we had something to tether us for a while.

“He’s the sweetest fur baby I’ve ever seen. Poor guy’s probably been waiting for his humans to come back for him.” Sookie kept rubbing Henry’s belly. “I even like his name.”

“I do too. He looks like a Henry. He’s going to have to accept a new last name. Should we hyphenate, or can he be Henry Rollins Northman?” I asked with a silly grin.

“Do you know who Henry Rollins is?”

“I know who Henry Rollins is, Sookie,” I chuckled. “I actually met him once. I still think if the dog is going to be part of our family he needs to share our name. Rollins will be his new middle name.”

“If that eases the sting of him being a mama’s boy, sure.”

“It does a little. Am I going to have to fight him for time with you?” He rolled over to face me, silently requesting attention from me.

“I’ll share, I promise.” Sookie backed off to give me the dog all to myself.

He continued to roll so he was on his back, leaned against my legs. He looked up into my eyes as I rubbed his chest and belly. It was pure love there. I smiled at that. The love of an animal was something everyone needed, in my opinion. I especially felt like Sookie needed it. I could give her all the love and affection I wanted but I still had my flaws. I was still going to fuck up and probably make her cry. Henry’s love was unconditional. It was clear his main goal was to make us smile. I knew that in the short time I’d been petting him.

“I think this was a good move,” I said to Sookie. Henry’s eyes started to drift closed.

“Me too. You want to come home with us, Henry?” Sookie stroked one of his back legs.

“I’m pretty sure if he could talk he’d say yes. I haven’t met any man that doesn’t want to go home with you.” I reached out to cup her jaw. I pulled her face closer for a lingering peck. “I’m the lucky fucker that gets to.”

“Thank you for bringing me here,” she said.

“You’re welcome.”

Callie came back into the room with the paperwork. That was what the table was for. Smart thinking. Sookie and I filled out all the paperwork we needed to be able to take Henry home. It was close to the amount of work to buy a car, but I understood it was for his protection. Sookie and I left the rescue twenty minutes later with an extra Northman in tow.

“Got any plans this weekend?” I asked Tawny. We were between shots. I had a towel over my lap, not that it was helping. There was a damn ten person tent sitting there.

“You mean other than stealing your girl?” she joked. “I’m actually going to Vegas for a convention. Monday I have a meeting to see about making a Tawny sex doll.”

“Oooh, I’ll buy one,” I grinned. “I think it would be fun to play with. I haven’t done a convention in way too long. Maybe I’ll accept the next one. I bet Sookie would love it.”

“You should bring her to the AVN Awards this year,” Tawny suggested. “I could go down on her between awards.”

“I’ll see how she feels about it,” I chuckled. She was good at giving me orgasms with images of her and Tawny fucking in front of me. “Have you made any progress with her?” I would know if she had. Sookie knew if she wanted to fuck someone else my only rules were that I was involved and that we discuss it first. I also had the right to veto.

“I’m still wooing her. I’m not giving up,” she said.

“I have no doubt. She likes to get me worked up by making me imagine you eating her pussy.”

“Smart girl. I bet it works every fucking time.”

“You know it does. I’ve been trying for you. I let her know you taught me some of my tricks,” I smiled. Since Sookie’s birthday it had been on my mind. “I’m sure you’ll get your way one day. Her pussy tastes like fuckin’ cotton candy, too.” I reached under my towel to stroke myself slowly. We had to do a blowjob scene as soon as the shot was set up.

“Does she get super wet?”

“Yes. She soaks me and the bed, or whatever surface we’re fucking on.”

“Mmm… I would eat the hell out of her pussy. I might never leave,” she said. Tawny’s eyes were fixed on my hand under the towel. “Keep it up and we’re fucking.”

“Darling, we’re going to be fucking anyway,” I reminded her. “How are you going to want it today?”

“Right now I want it fucking hard,” she answered.

“You want me to pull your hair?” I asked. My eyes closed. I was imagining my girl bent over the back of the couch. “I’ll make sure to leave my handprint on your sexy ass.”

“Oh fuck yes,” she moaned. I could hear the sound of her playing with her pussy.

We could fluff ourselves.

“Goddamn, I have to stop.” I pulled my towel off so she could see the precum beading at my tip. I looked over at her hand rubbing over her clit quickly. “Imagine my girls tongue swirling around that sweet little clit,” I purred. Tawny was like Sookie in if I made her cum, she was cumming for the rest of the day with very little effort.

“Mmm… yeah that’s what I need,” she moaned. Her fingers dipped into her pussy.

I grabbed my phone and snapped a picture of her. “Mind if I send that to Sookie?”

“Send her a video and a fucking monogrammed invitation.”

I chuckled before I turned on the video camera. She suggested it, so…

Less than two minutes later Tawny came with a small scream. It was always a lovely sight for me.

“She’s thinking about you, Lover,” I said into the microphone before I stopped the video. I was getting ready to send it when my phone rang. Speak of the devil. “You’re lucky you caught me between scenes.”

I heard a sniffle, suggesting Sookie was crying since I knew she wasn’t sick.

“The cops called a few minutes ago,” she said. “Hadley was picked up in East Hollywood.”

“Really?” I sat up, waiting for more news. “Did she… did she have it?” I knew that was all Sookie cared about.

“She was high as a kite and kicked a cop in face. When she was tackled on the sidewalk, a bunch of jewelry fell out of her pocket… Mom’s necklace was there. I’m… I’m on my way to get it.”

“Oh, baby, that’s… I wish I could be with you,” I replied. It was the best news we’d gotten in a while.

“You’ll see me when you’re done for the day. I’ll probably be wearing the necklace and nothing else when you get home.”

“Mmm, I can’t wait. I’m so happy for you, Lover.” I looked over at Tawny with a big smile. “I have something to show you when I get home. I’ll try to make sure this goes quick.”

“I can’t wait. I love you,” she said.

“I love you too. If you start to get overwhelmed pull over and call Kennedy or Ras.”

“I will. Have a good day filming.”

“I will,” I promised. That sounded bad, but she knew what I meant. Sookie and I hung up with one last I love you.

I sat back in my chair again. Things were looking up. I was suddenly very happy I made her stay that day. This wouldn’t have happened otherwise. Things were going very well for us. I suddenly couldn’t wait to get home so I could make love to my girl.

  2. Aw! Henry is so cute! And they said “I love you”. Guessing I was way off base about Hadley and she really did that shit at Sookie’s house, sigh. Things are looking so much better for both of them, it’s awesome. Loved the chapter!

  5. Great chapter! Big thanks for details of the adoption process….some folks think they can go to a shelter & walk out with a pet like they run into a 7-11 for a gallon of milk…. all of my furbabies ( huskies) are rescue / re -homes … it’s not everybodys cup of tea but it’s a wonderful feeling!🐕

  6. Yes, getting a dog they both love was a good idea. I’m glad Hadley was finally caught and Sookie can get some of her jewelry back. Most importantly her mother’s necklace. I would like to know why Hadley did it, but either it would be a sob story or a slew of hateful shit. So definitely Sookie should not ask unless she wants to hear what she comes up with.

I’m glad Eric did that, he is perfect 😄

Lol love how he is trying to help Tawny talk Sookie into a three way! Wonder how Sookie is going to feel watching that vid?

She got her necklace back! That. Is. Awesome!
Throw the book at her Sookie. No regrets. She needs some serious consequences.
